Rry, don't say that. But it's true, my friend. Okay, all right, enough of that nonsense before we get underway with this episode's topic of discussion. The words Smith word. That's right, the wordsmith word of the episode where you can impress your friend's, neighbors, colleagues with your vernacular and vocabulary knowledge, and this week's Wordsmith word of the episode, Oh, computer generated AI voice is what litity's? What is it? Litit? Litity's sounds dirty, but it's not. L I t O t E s It is a understatement in which an affirmative and affirmative is expressed by the negative of the contrary, as in a bad singer or I'm not unhappy. Let's hear it. In a couple of examples, Oh, miss female computer generated voice. His comment that the traffic was not ideal was lititis, considering we had been stuck for two hours? All right, how about another one? The coaches, you're not bad was an encouraging bit of lititis. All right, one more, one more for these examples. Of litits can make you seem overly sarcastic. Oh yeah, well I've been accused of that. So this episode's word Smith Word of the episode once again, l I totes litits an understatement in which an affirmative is expressed by the negative of the contrary. Now you know, Now you're smart. Now you can go out and impress all your friends with your knowledge and show them what a big old brain you got. Huh, there you go. Anyhow, Welcome folks, Welcome back to the Wife's Thoughts podcast. And on this episode of the podcast, I've been thinking about what's the world coming to? Now. I know you're gonna say, well, Terry, what do you mean by that statement? What is the world coming to? As you may be aware, I've had a lot happen here over the past couple months, some good and some tragic, and it really started me thinking about humanity, about our place in the world, about how we are towards each other, how we treat each other, things like that, and it really made me start to do some soul searching and some deep introspective thought. You know, there's a lot of garbage going on on the news. A lot of garbage going on on the news, I mean so much that you know, we're bombarded every day with negativity and conflict fighting. You know, it's like and I've talked about it on past episodes of the Waste's Thoughts podcast. You can go to waste thoughts dot com and check it out and see that. It just makes me wonder, it really does. What, uh, what is the world coming to Are we getting to a breaking point? Do you think that are we on the precipice of some major societal change in the world, Not just in the United States, I'm talking worldwide. When I look at the news, when I look at things like social media and the Internet. And don't get me wrong, I love the Internet. I have learned so much from the Internet. I mean both socially, academically politically. I've learned a lot of things. But there is a lot of garbage out there too. It used to be the people who spewed garbage, you know, it was a couple of chuckleheads, maybe in your hometown, and they say, oh, we don't need to go around them anymore, so and that was it. But now any person, any individual, no matter what the age, that has access to the World Wide Web can pretty much pretty much, not all the time, but pretty much can put anything out there for the world to ingest, digest, talk about see. And again, there's a lot of good out there, but man, it just seems like there's a lot of garbage out there too. It really does. And I I know somebody will say, you know what, though, then maybe more regulation, But is that really the answer? Because then the thing that pops into my brain is, well, who decides what's good, Who decides what needs to be regulated, and who decides how should it be regulated? And what is considered okay and not okay? Who makes that determination? Because then you're going to go by their standards or that groups standards. You get my drift, you follow my air because one group or one person's standards might not be the standards for somebody else. So there that opens up that whole Pandora's box. I guess we're living in a time where it seems like at times, not all the time, but it seems like at times, personal accountability and personal responsibility is just in some cases thrown right out the damn window. I'm gonna do what I want, I'm gonna say what I want, and everyone else be damned. And that's not good for society either, not at all. You have to have some personal integrity, you have to have some moral character, and some people don't. And I'll tell you what. If you want to know why I say that, just go on the internet search for a show called Shane's Dumb Criminals, a channel called Shane Shane apostropheas Shane's dumb criminal criminals. I'll speak. Start watching some of his channel. He's got a thing called Taser Tuesday, where some people they just act like complete morons and they end up getting tased by the police just for the simplest of things that you know, or you can look at your local TikTok videos or Instagram videos or YouTube shorts videos some of the things people do to each other. I strongly feel that we not only as Americans here in the United States of America from whence the program cometh to you, but we as humans, as the human race, need to get back to some moral sense of responsibility for our actions and accountability. I don't think it's all right to say, you know what, I can do whatever I want, everyone else be damned to me. That's just it doesn't seem right. I don't know, maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but I think we really do. Some of the young coming out of the schools today, they just to have no respect for anything, anyone or anybody life, their fellow classmates, adults, they're elders, strangers. I don't get it, and I know some of you are out there gonna be ye yahn ya shank and old funny duddy tear ye shah nank you old man. Well, yeah, I'm gaining in yours. However, I was taught as a youngster respect for my elders, with a certain degree of wariness. Obviously, if some guy pulled up in a van and said, hey, hop in here, you know, no, but basic respect for elders. Open a door for someone, open a door for a lady, say please and thank you. Help where and when you can not, just be I'm going to step over you so I can get to the top of the mountain. And that just kind of makes me wonder, where are we going? What is the world coming to as a human race? What are we coming to as a society? It makes me, it does, and and these are some of the things that sometimes keep me up at night. I know some of you out there shaking your head, saying, dude, there's other things to worry about. Well, it's kind of everybody's problem, though, it's everybode's, you know, because we're all part of the human race, right, We're all part of it. We have to interact with each other. We have to step outside and interact with people, right, Hello, And there's been times in my life where I'm ashamed to say that, you know, in my younger days, and that I was not as respectful as accountable as I could have been. And for that I have repented, i have asked for forgiveness, and I've learned from it. That's the key thing. Learn from your mistakes, learn from your past behavior, and you can also learn from others' behavior. Watch what some people do and go no, I'm not no, oh, I don't want to act like that. I don't want to do that. I don't want to treat that person this way, or do this or do that. Situation the basic common sense of humanity. It gives me a moment of pausitive times. Now, I'm not saying it's all bad. It's not all bad. There are great people out there and individuals and groups of people and organizations and nations that help people that step in. Maybe it's because we're just living in that time of instant information overload. I call it iiO instant information overload, where at any second you can have access to terabytes of information in a nanosecond. And I grew up in a much simpler time, you know, I grew up when television was just starting to turn to color and getting more popular in the US. There you go, I'm dating myself. Cable was a what's that cell phone? What's that internet? Inter What? What's an internet? But I've seen all these things so far in my lifetime, and the technology is moving at the speed of light, it would seem, and it can be scary at some point, Yes it can. It's just one of those things. But as I lay awake at nights sometimes again, I sometimes contemplate and I pray for our world. You know, what is the world coming to? I wish we could all be a little more respectful. I wish we could all love each other a little more, be a little kinder and gentler to each other, a little more, a little more understanding and empathetic. What do you think?
