The new year is upon us, and if you could use one word to help motivate you, push you along, get you towards your goals this year, what would it be? Let's talk about it this time on Weiss's Thoughts. We got all the house cleaning out of the way, so thank goodness for that. And welcome, welcome, my friends. It is twenty twenty four and the new year is upon us. Are you ready? Are you ready? Last year was a fast year, wasn't it? It really really was. Lots went on last year. I had quite a few life changes in my life. Last year had some downs, but more ups than downs last year. And I am really excited. I am excited and looking forward to the year twenty twenty four, as I hope you are as well. Let's face it, New Year's every day is a chance to start over. I always say, every day is a chance to start over. That being said, though, however, the new year is when we all seem to focus, right, That's the time that we all seem to do a lot of self introspective reflection. There, I coin those words. Mash those words together, introspective reflection. I like that. I are so we do a lot of ir and around this time of the year, a lot of people make resolutions based on their health, their finances, their relationships, their career, what have you for a myriad of reasons. And rightfully so, I mean, it's just where we get the perpetual reset January first of every upcoming year. Now, as I talked about in the opener, if you could be and the reason I'm bringing this up on the podcast today and we're talking about it here on Wife's Thoughts is because someone said this to me and it really got me, really got me thinking, and I thought, wow, what a great topic. I'm going to talk to my listeners about this as well. They said to me, Hey, Terry, upcoming year, if you could summarize what would keep you motivated going throughout the year upcoming year in one word, not a phrase, not a paragraph, not a snippet, not a SoundBite, but one word. What would you use for one word? To kind of keep you, you know, going along this year in the upcoming year, and I must, I must admit to you it really kind of it caught me unaware in that I had never really stopped to put it in that type of perspective. I always, you know, you know, write down a mission statement for the following year, write down this right down. And it really it got me thinking, I'm like, hmm, okay, if I have to break this down, if I have to break this down to a singular word, what would it be? And I spent quite quite a bit of time thinking about it. I really really did. And so so what ended up happening is, after a lot of introspective reflection I came up with my word. My word is forward. What, Yes, my word is forward. So my word for twenty twenty four is forward. Now you're probably some of you are probably scratching your head saying forward. What. I don't get it, Terry. Here's why I chose that word, all right. So I want to move forward in my personal goals for my career. I want to move forward in my relationships with family, friends and loved ones. I want to move forward with my health. I want to move forward in my spiritual relationship, and to me taking that time that introspective thought, forward just made It's the first thing that popped in my mind when I was thinking about it. I tried to come up with some other word for this upcoming year, but forward just kept coming back to me. I feel now you can say, well, was a divine intervention? Was it your own subconscious you know, providing this for you? I don't know. It's just the first thing that happened to pop into my mind soon as I initially when they said it and I took you know, a few breaths and thought about it. Forward, that's just the first thing that popped into my head. And again, after quite a lot of introspective reflection, I kept coming back to the word forward. So that's what I'm going with. Forward is the word for Terry Weiss for the year two thy and twenty four, and that's what I'm using in my day to day life starting in twenty twenty four, forward, propelling myself forward. Now we can dive a little deeper into that for some specifics forward in my career. No more holding back saying should I do some more of this? Should I invest in some more marketing. Should I take that chance, move forward? Just take go, go, Stop sitting on the sidelines, stop watching, wondering and thinking, wishing and hoping. Move forward in my health. How I will apply the word forward. For those of you that listened to listen to past episodes of the podcast, you know I've been droning on for the past two years about losing twenty pounds, at least twenty pounds, getting under two hundred pounds. I want my goal weigh is one hundred and ninety nine pounds, one ninety nine point two point five point anything under. I want that scale to go under two hundred pounds. All right, I've been close, I never have not I have yet? Shall I say I have yet? Shall I say to achieve that? However, that being said, I'm moving forward. I am going to push myself forward to obtain that goal before the end of this year. Now, I'm not going to put an unrealistic date on it and say two months I'm going to lose twenty pounds. You know, because some people get radical, and hey, man, if that is your thing, if that's what motivates you, if what is what pushes the needle for you further ahead, or get you further down the road. Great. I have found probably over the past couple of years, that's setting a hard goal in something like that. Just if anything, it frustrates me more and it puts more pressure maybe on myself, more undue stress anxiety. So I'm leaving a wide open type goal of before the end of twenty twenty four, I will be at one hundred and ninety nine pounds. Now. If it comes in a three months, great, If it comes in ten weeks, great, If it comes in forty five days great, If it comes in six months, great, seven nine months. You get what I'm saying here that I am moving forward with my health goals and to exercise more as well. I'm pushing myself forward. I have one of these things. I don't know, maybe you've heard of them, an Apple Watch. Have you heard of those? I have an Apple Watch. I mean, there's so so many fitness trackers out there, so many things that you can get there. There's fit Bit, the Android platform has the Galaxy smart watches, what have you. There's countless third party brands, garment, et cetera. Whatever you may use or if you don't use one, maybe now's the time to get one if you want to help track your fitness as you go along. And the reason I say that is to say this, A lot of these art watches or health smart devices will give you a summary as you go along throughout your fitness journey as far as your cardiovascular health and your calories, et cetera, et cetera. So, again, in keeping with the spirit of the podcast Today Forward, I have upped my goals on my step count per day, my cardiovascular fitness calories, et cetera, water intake, and again too, under the auspices of mental health. Let us not forget, let us not forget our mental health. Yes, as many of us learned in the Remember the Great Pandemic back in twenty twenty, our mental health is just as important as our physical health, and maybe some might argue even more importantly. So. So I'm pushing myself forward then in that category of health by taking better care of my mental health through breathing, through meditation, again, introspective reflection as well, and adjusting accordingly as far as again sticking with the theme of the podcast, here on why his thoughts today Forward is my word my relationships both with friends, co workers, family and loved ones. I want to move those relationships forward. Be a better coworker, be a better friend, be a better husband, be a better father, be a better grandfather, be a better what have you, acquaintance, whatever you want, just overall, be a better person, be more available, be more emotionally understanding and open minded to other people's points of view, opinions, etc. I want to move that part of my mental framework with relationships for word okay, And by doing that, I firmly believe that that is going to have a widespread effect on other areas of my life as well. I mean, how can it not right? How can it not? So? Those are just some examples of my word forward. And what I have done is I've taken that word. I've written it down, and I have it right here in the studio with me. So whenever I come up to the monitors in the studio here the microphone or the you know, the the mixing desk, I see the word forward every day forward and in my meditations and you know, my quiet reflections throughout each day. My mantra is also I'm going to include the word forward. Now here's what I'm suggesting for you. Take some time think about it. Think about what you want your word to be. Really give it some serious thought, give it some serious thought. If I want, if I could summarize in one word, one word that would bring focus, help me, encourage me, you know, provide me that mental launching pad for the new up you know, the new year, not the upcoming year. It's here. It's here as you're listening to this podcast, this is the third first podcast of Wife's Thoughts for twenty twenty four. As you're listening to this podcast right now, whether it's in your car, whether it's in your kitchen, whether you're outside walking, you're in the gym, running outside running, just tucking your head down to go nighty night, having a cup of tea. What have you all? Right? Think of what you would like your word to be, and when you get it, write it down, write it down, focus on it, and then, like I gave some examples here on the podcast today, think of how that your word will help to motivate you, to push you forward and to keep you on track, and provide you a mental starting point, launching pad, jumping off point. Whatever word you want to use or phrase, think of how your word's going to do that and keep that focus. All right. So that's that's about all I got for on this episode of the podcast.
