But did that enjoyed it? Enjoyed the holiday, really did enjoyed the holiday, so, which was nice. And I spent some time. We had the family over, which is nice, and the grandkids. So we had a nice, a nice holiday, and we all enjoyed ourselves. Good food, good company, good times. So what are we, pray tell, going to talk about on the program today here in White's thoughts. Well, let's dive right into it, shall we. Gathering around our virtual campfire, Here you go, put another log in the fire. There you go, grab a seat, lend me your ears. You know, it's something we all struggle with, myself included, and some of us. For some of us, it starts at a young early age, some of us not so much. Maybe when we get into adulthood or middle life, you know, things like that. But I am talking about the ever ongoing battle that is prevalent, especially in American society, and it is losing weight. And I just want to preface before we get underway, before I tell you what I did and what's working for me. I am not a doctor. I am not a licensed anything, okay except voice actor. I am not a doctor. I am not a physician. I am not a guru. So take anything I say here today with a grain of salt. Always consult your own physician. They are the best judge. If you have any health conditions, what have you, make sure you seek them out. Please. I am just offering you my experience and my perspective, okay, on this and on what we're going to talk about here on the program today. So with that being sad, let me get another log for the fire here. It's like crackling here in the background. Ah yes, So yeah, the ever going and growing an ongoing battle with trying to lose a few pounds, trying to stay healthy, especially in American society. And we got a lot of things against us nowadays, don't we. The constant bombardment of advertising, you know how many besides drug commercials. You know, it's either there, it's either that they're they're shoving drug commercials in your face on television and the radio, but mostly on TV. The drug companies are buy our drugs, buy our drugs. Happy, Are you sad? Are you fat? Are you skinny? You know, do you feel good? Buy some drugs? Maybe you shouldn't feel this good? Or it's food commercials, a lot of it, you know, places like the big fast food restaurants and what have you. And let's face it, Okay, let's be let's be really honest with ourselves. The American food supply is much to be desired. There's a lot of dare I say, just garbage out there that we're shoveling into our bodies, myself included. I am not standing in a pulp, but I've done it for years myself and many a times. Just you know, the old fast food, you know, the pizza, the the burgers, the cakes, you know, the donuts, all that stuff, because you know, quite frankly, they make it taste so damn good they do, and it's easy, and part of me wonders. I don't have specific proof, but others have said this. I've heard this set in circles around the internet, around the world, that there's certain things they're pumping into it, or certain formulas they use on certain things to make us eat more, make it taste so damn good. And there's another factor too, you know, the stress in society nowadays, the stress to earn money, to keep up with the bills, to keep up with the joneses, as it were. You know, we're being pulled constantly in a myriad of directions. We're being bombarded with social media and online things, and you know, there is something to say. There's a good segment of the population that emotionally eats. I was one of them for quite a while, because it just feels so good just to fill your face with a bag of Cheetos or Dorito's or hamburger and fries or milkshake or bull of eyes, you know, And I get it because it just it says itch. It satisfies you. That's the word I'm looking for. It satisfies you, and we forget about our troubles for a while. So I get that as well. And not enough of us Americans exercise. A good majority of us don't. Where a lot of us are just couch potatoes or we're so busy just getting up zoom right to the shower, of zoom right to work, zoom home, zoom to get the kids from practice, this a zoom out to dinner, blah blah blah blah blah boom. You know, it takes a lot of discipline. And for those of you out there to exercise, God bless you. Good for you, because it does take. It takes discipline to carve some time out of your day to uh, you know, to make that time to exercise, whether it's a walk or a stroll around the neighborhood or running, jogging, weightlifting, bicycling, swimming, whatever, lifting weight, whatever it is that you do, tai Chi yoga and good for you. You know. It's something I've tried to incorporate into my life over the past plus decade. And one thing I found is when I incorporated this exercise, I found that while I wasn't really dropping the weight getting to the weight I wanted to be, which I've said over the years on this program, and I'll bear it bears repeatings, I'll say it again. I want to get under two hundred pounds. I've been as high as two hundred and thirty pounds. Okay, just a mere few months ago, I was upwards of almost two hundred and thirty pounds twenty eight twenty nine, two thirty two, twenty seven. And I found even though I walked a lot and was pretty physically active, I didn't do like workouts in a gym or anything, but I walked quite a bit. I'd walk a mile to three miles sometimes a day, you know, anywhere from three to five days a week. And I found that I was just maintaining. But then I was eating the wrong foods. I was guilty of this. How many of you out there do this? Do you eat constantly? I was getting up in the morning within an hour boomam eating. Then I was eating a snack before lunch. Then I was eating lunch. Then I was eating a snack after lunch, and then I was eating a snack after the snack before dinner. Then I was eating dinner. Then after dinner, I was having my dessert, and then after dessert, I was having a snack. Then maybe if I knotted off around eight thirty nine ten o'clock at night, I'd wake up in the middle of the night sometimes say you know what we had chicken for dinner tonight? I didn't even know the slice of chicken too thirty in a morning, I'm eating. My body was constantly used to feeding itself and eating, and I was wondering, why, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, why am I ballooning up? Why? And I stumbled across something on my own. And I didn't even know, folks, I didn't even know this was a thing. I stumbled across something on my own. I have gone from an all time high of like two hundred and thirty point four pounds just a mere few months ago, and I am happy to report at this point in time, while you're listening to this podcast, I am down to two hundred and five point four pounds. Now. All I did was change one, well two things. I changed two things, and I'm going to tell you about it here in just a second. Hey, everybody, welcome back, Welcome back to the podcast. Welcome to White Thoughts. I'm Terry Weiss, and we are talking about losing weight, you know, getting uh, shedding those pounds. That's what we're talking about this time around on the program. And we are so happy that you joined us today. We truly are, aren't we, Mister producer extraordinaire, I know I am. Yes, all right, let's get our back to our fire here. Oh, a little chilly up here in the Northeast as it is winter time. But so anyway, like we were talking about before we took a quick little break there. I did two things, two things to go from two hundred a little bit over two hundred and thirty pounds of just a mere few months ago to my now all time low weight in the past eighteen years. I'm down to two hundred and five point five four pounds. Yeah, and I did two things. And one of the things I stumbled on. I didn't even know what was the thing, and we're going to talk about it right now. I just out of happenstance. A couple of months or so back. I was doing some yard work and things of that nature, and I hadn't eaten that morning, and next thing I know, it was like ten thirty eleven o'clock in the morning, okay, And I'm like, oh, okay. I went in the house, relaxed, grabbed myself a little glass of water, and I had a little something to eat. And then, for some odd reason, I don't even know why, I was thinking what it was, I said, you know, what's starting today, I'm not going to eat anything after six pm in the evening. So I, you know, I had my I called it a blunch between breakfast and lunch at like ten thirty quarter at eleven am that day, and then I had a little something around one point thirty and then we had dinner around five pm. But after six pm on that evening, nothing, no solid food. I had tea, water, what have you. And that was it. That was absolutely it. Okay. Now the next day I didn't eat anything until after ten am in the morning. I just said, you know what this is I'm doing. Okay, you know, I didn't get up in the middle of the night or eat anything. I'm going to do that again. So that's what I did. I made myself a window for eating from ten am, starting and stopping by six pm in the evening. And I just started doing that. And I must admit the first few days, you know, I you know, I was a little hungry around eight nine o'clock because my body was so used to getting food throughout the day. I had a couple of times in the morning the first three to five days, when I got up after I'd done my things and that, and I came in you know, for my walk or what have you, or you know, get done tiding myself up. I was tempted to go up, go grab a toast, go grab some nope, I'm like, I had to remind myself. Instead, I had just water or a cup of tea, and I made a commitment to myself to not eat before ten am and to stop eating after six pm. Now, the first couple of weeks, I had some really and I'm gonna I'm gonna share it. And some people might say, terry to you, too much info, TMI, as the youngsters say, But I had some really interesting gastro intestinal symptoms. I got where gas pain, you know, my digestion slowed down. Uh, you know, I got some pains above my belly button and the stomach in the back here there. And then after I had passed gas a few times like ooh, I felt better. But I got some indigestion, you know, and gas panes the first couple three weeks or so. But I read up on it, and that's when I went to the internet and said, Okay, is this anything to worry about? What have you talked to the doctor? Told them what was going on. They said, no, your body is your body. Your you know, your digestive system was just so used to having food constantly go through it. Now that you've cut that window all right to eight hours instead of basically a twenty hour or an eighteen hour process of fading yourself. Your digestion is slowing down because it says, hell, hey, we don't know when we're going to get food next here, So your digestion is adjusting. Your microbio, you know, your micro organisms inside your intestines are adjusting. So what they advised and what I confirmed online was ease into eating. You know, don't stuff and gorge yourself at ten oh one am or what have you. You know, eat fiber rich foods, stuff that's easy on the digestive system. And it took me a while to adjust to do that. And they told me, and the internet confirmed, and you can look this up. Your system will adjust, you know, but it takes anywhere from two to four weeks, maybe a little longer, depending on how committed you are to doing that. But I started to notice a wonderful thing. After about a week to ten days, I started losing weight. I got on the scale after about a week week and a half and I'm like, holy crap, I've dropped three and a half pounds this week. Now. I didn't change anything else per se. That first couple of weeks, you know, I did lay off. I laid off the sugar. I don't eat ice cream or things like that, and I cut down on sodas. I was drinking one to three sodas a day for a while, so I backed right off that. I just stopped the sodas cold turkey and went to mainly water and tea and things of that nature, almond milk and stuff like that. The second week, I dropped, you know, another two and a half three pounds. My weight started coming down, and I'm like, okay, and that in turn encouraged me. Now again, it took a while. It took probably a good couple of weeks to start to get used to it. But I was a little bit miserable for about two to four weeks off and on because I'd be like getting gas pains here and the air and then hunger pangs as they call it, and felt a little moody, or as my wife would say, I was. I was kind of bitchy. But I started to pay attention to more things. I tried to get better rest. I still kept up my walking, and after about the third week, I started finding I had more energy. You know, I'd get the sleep, I'd get anywhere from six to eight hours. I'd try to get a night. If I get at least six hours, I'm good. Anything under six forget about it, you know. But about the third week, I started getting a lot more energy. I felt my thinking felt clearer. I didn't get that, you know, how you get that afternoon where you want to just after you have luncher, I need a nap. That started going away. And I just started noticing changes in my body. So that's something you might want to look into. I guess they call it sixteen eight fasting or something. I mean, some people use longer windows, some shorter. I don't know. For me, it worked. I'm just saying for me, it worked obviously. Again, like I stated earlier, you want to check with your doctor, you know, if you're on any medication stuff like that, check with your physician. They know the best. I'm not a doctor, I'm not a nature path or nothing like that. I'm not licensed in any way, shape or form except to yack at you over a microphone here. But it's really working for me, and I'm enjoying it, and I feel better. My knees feel better, my back feels better. I'm losing that gut. Guys. You know that beer belly, that that fat in the center, it's mine's going down. Man. I was like, whoa, and the sides there. You know, I don't have those love handles anymore. They're pretty much gone. My pants, my clothes fit better. I might have to actually go down to size in jeans. But it's really been it's been an exciting and an informative and joyful journey, I must say to this point, and I'm looking forward to getting down to under two hundred pounds by January first, if I can do it. I want to get under that two hundred pound level. Man. That's definitely what we're trying to do. But look into it. It's intermittent fasting. It's something I found that I just stumbled upon. I didn't even set out to do this. Isn't that kind of the way things happen in life. Some of the best things to you. You don't intend this to happen. You don't intend for that situation. You just kind of, you know, you stumble in and you're like, oh, and away you go. And now I'm doing it. I stop eating by six o'clock, and you know what, I'm not hungry at all. I don't even think about food until the next day. And there's been a lot of days as I've been doing this now for going on six to seven plus weeks here, sometimes I'm like, oh crap, it's eleven o'clock. I better eat something, you know, and I just start having a little something in a way. I go, you know, some oatmeal, maybe with some honey and some cinnamon or whatever. I'm trying to eat healthier and your body can adjust. It's a wonderful thing. The universe, God, whatever you happen to believe in, has made our bodies such a wonderful thing. And instead of destroying them, you know, we can do it. We can become healthier no matter where you're at. All you need is some knowledge and determination and the will, and you can do it. Hey, thanks for listening to the program today. I truly appreciate each and every one of you out there. And remember to see a change in the world, you have to be the change in the world you want to see. It all starts with you, the person looking back at you in the mirror every morning.
